Our first Faringdon group celebrated the end of their very successful YoCO experience last Sunday by throwing a party for friends, family, staff and supporters of Youth Challenge Oxfordshire. The 12 amazing young people that started their journey with us last year could only imagine what was ahead of them through the busy and exciting programme of weekly sessions, fundraising, events, a residential at Youlbury Camp and their life-changing trip to Kenya.
The group managed to raise £800 each for the Nasio Trust and their trip, through various fundraisers such as fun-runs, cake sales and a wonderful event with Al Sylvester MBE. The young people committed to organising and running these events in their local community with huge success and support from organisations and businesses. The group took part in workshops and courses in first-aid, citizenship, self-confidence and even obtained a food safety certificate which made them all very prepared for their volunteering trip. The feedback from the young people, their families and friends show what incredible progress they've all made throughout their time with YoCO. Lots of them returned with new career aspirations, change in lifestyle and eating habits and a lot more confidence!
The time we had was amazing, so fun and the leaders of YoCO and Kenya were all amazing! An amazing experience, up and beyond all my expectation. I hope to inspire others to be part of this incredible adventure.
